How This Piece is Made
How This Piece is Made
This garment is hand-embroidered in traditional Palestinian tatreez by women artisans in Al Baqaa’ Refugee Camp in Jordan.
Each motif is stitched using premium DMC silk threads, ensuring precision, durability, and depth of color. The embroidery process is completed by hand, following generational techniques passed from mother to daughter.
Through our partnership with Boqaa, production remains small-scale and ethically structured, providing consistent, fairly compensated work while preserving Palestinian cultural craft in displacement.
No automation. No mass production.
Only time, skill, and lineage.
Description
Description
Inspired by the sacred geometric bands encircling Qubbat Al-Sakhra in Al Quds.
This design draws from the architectural rhythm that frames one of Jerusalem’s most enduring landmarks — repeating symmetry, deliberate proportion, and protection through pattern. In traditional Palestinian dress, embroidered bands often structured the garment in similar ways: marking space, reinforcing form, and carrying cultural memory through geometry.
The horizontal tatreez panel across the chest reflects this lineage — a band of structure across a modern silhouette. Deep blue silk thread echoes the historic tones associated with Jerusalem’s sacred architecture, while the red motif placed at the back of the neck serves as a quiet seal — subtle, intentional, present.
Each sweater is hand-embroidered in traditional Palestinian tatreez by women artisans in Al Baqaa’ Refugee Camp in Jordan, in partnership with Boqaa. Produced slowly and in limited quantities, this piece bridges sacred architectural language with contemporary wear — preserving craft while sustaining dignified, fairly compensated labor in exile.
